5 questions for a health professional about writing in English
Julie is a dietician from Belgium who needs to write patient reports in English.
- How do you feel about writing in English?
Doing the writing is ok. That’s not a problem. But is it correct? That’s my big issue.
- What’s the hardest thing about writing in English?
I have trouble finding my mistakes. When my colleague points out my errors, they are so obvious! But I can’t see them when I check my writing and that’s very frustrating.
- How do you overcome this?
I’m using the tips I learnt in EPRO Express. My coach explained why checking twice faster works better than once slowly. Christina also gave me other tips that I can use to catch the common mistakes I make all the time.
- What are your writing goals?
I want to stop making those silly mistakes.
- What’s your advice for others who need to write in English?
You should ask for help from someone who can give you techniques to check your writing. Then your writing will start to speed up. And you feel more confident.
