5 questions for a health professional about writing in English

What do health professionals say about writing in English when it’s not their first language?

Susanna is a massage therapist from Switzerland who writes a regular email newsletter to her clients.

  1. How do you feel about writing in English?
Speaking is ok because when I make mistakes, usually I think my clients don’t remember them. But writing feels so permanent and that makes it more difficult.

  2. What’s the hardest thing about writing in English?
I get very frustrated because it takes me so long to write my newsletter. Also, I want it to be perfect and so I check it again and again.

  3. How do you overcome this?
I try to do it section by section, so a little bit every day.

  4. What are your writing goals?
I want to write faster in English.

  5. What’s your advice for others who need to write in English?
Now that I’m working with a writing coach, it feels like I’m making progress. So get help from someone who not only checks your writing but can explain your mistakes.
