5 questions about writing in English

What do health professionals say about writing in English when it’s not their first language?

Luis is a doctor from Spain. Here’s his take (opinion) about writing in English.

  1. How do you feel about writing in English?
Actually I don’t like it, but I have to write for my work.

  2. What’s the hardest thing about writing in English?
It takes too long. And my writing is not clear. I know that because my writing coach often asks me “Do you mean X or do you mean Y?”. That’s a big problem.

  3. How do you overcome this?
I try to remember the corrections so that next time I don’t make the same mistake. I think reading would help too, but at the moment I don’t have time.

  4. What are your writing goals?
I need to write faster and be clearer.

  5. What’s your advice for others who need to write in English?
You have to push yourself. Meeting with my writing coach every week is good for me. We work on my emails and reports and I can see my mistakes and understand how to write better.
